Ballers rules for pick up basketball

Welcome to the official page of the 3's and 2's project. Our mission is to promote the game of playground basketball and celebrate the stories of ballers across America. Our goal is to introduce a fairer, more competitive way to play hoops every day. The ball game is a 25,000 year old tradition for human beings and customs about scoring and etiquette vary from place to place. The members of the 3's and 2's project want to change the game of pick up basketball and elevate the game's status to enhance its appeal to future generations. Below are the official Baller rules of pickup basketball as well as an explanation as to why its better to play this way.

 Baller Rules

Scoring Rules:

 1. All baskets inside the line are 2 points, outside 3 points.
Reason: Good shooters should be rewarded, defensive players have to space out.

 2. Winner of the game is the first team to 32 points, margin of victory must be by 4 points ( Example 31-34 is not a winning score) otherwise overtime with first team to 42.
Reason: A victory only comes through perseverance, making teams win decisively and giving the losing team more of a chance increases the competitiveness of games.

 3. Halftime first team to 16 points, teams switch baskets
Reason: advantages and disadvantages of relative court features are equalized between the winning team and challengers.

Personal Fouls and Referee Calls:

1. Call your own fouls, no scores on shooting fouls.
Reason: foul calls slow down games, less foul calls mean less disagreements between ballers.

2. Respect all calls and don't argue, if players disagree on a call either shoot for it or flip a coin.
Reason: Too many calls slow down games and make them less fun

Miscellaneous Rules:

1. No backcourt violation

2. Jump ball goes to the first team that calls "first". Players with their hands on the ball cannot call it.
